Healthy Homemade Chips





As I said
before here, this Blog is an alternative for who wants to continue to eat
everything that they want it, and still wants to be healthy and
fit.
It is so nice
when you eat something that you can enjoy, and at the same time you don’t feel
guilty to have eating that food.


The week recipe
is Healthy Chip. Who doesn’t like CHIPS? It is so good, when you’re drinking, watching
a movie, playing board games. It’s easy, salted, convenience, and then you
realize you ate all the whole bag. But if you pay attention at Nutrition Facts,
you will regret having had that bag of chips, which seemed so good and innocent
by your side.


Regular Nature Ruffles
In the begin is
not so bad, because doesn’t have anything artificial. BUT, 27% FAT, more 12%
sodium.  For just 50g (21 chips), you will eat
this easy and much more than 50g.


We love
PRETZELS, who doesn’t? But it is worse than the Ruffles. Less calories, BUT 36%
Sodium and if you take a look at the ingredients, you’ll can see it has some artificial
 corn syrup, malt syrup, active dry yeast,
ammonium, potassium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide. All of these ingredients are
industrialized. If you have a choice, always prefer which one is more natural,
even if this one has more calories. But it will not be too bad for your health.

Anyways,
nothing can be better than HEALTHY CHIPS, right? Why don’t you make your own
chips? They will have more taste, and less calories and sodium, whatever less
everything and more healthy. You can use many kinds of veggies, like: potatoes,
beets, carrots, yams, cassava or you can use fruits as well if you wants sweet chips, like: bananas, apple and pear. You can create your recipe mixing the veggies
and the herbs together and using Infuses Olive Oil Infused Olive oil Recipe . It is so fun, healthy and
really nice to offer for your guests when they come to your house.

Eat with Pleasure, Arugula Salad with Beets and Goat Cheese





I am really happy today that I have more time to spend on my
health. I can understand more about nutrition, what is better for me or not.
People are different, and certain foods are good for some and bad for others.
That’s why I don’t believe in some diets, like: gluten free, no carbs, and no
lactose. When you really want to change what you’re eating and start to eat
well, you need to look for a professional. They’ll really know
about your body and which foods will help you. At the same time you can
start to study food, which food has more vitamins, protein, sugar, and
carbs. Depend what you want. That’s why Nutritionists are important as well.
Both together (doctors and nutritionists), will match a perfect combination,
either for your body or your nourishment.

I’ve been eating healthier since I arrived in Canada. I
believe the reason is the fact that I have more time to devote myself to my
diet and lifestyle I've been having here. Before in Brazil I was eating healthy
as well, but I didn’t have to time to pay attention in the food I was eating
and buying, and also I used to go out to eat much more than here. Another
special reason is in my personal opinion Brazilian food are better than Canadian
not just because is fresh and healthier, but the desserts, sweets and the
Brazilian junk food are more delicious. I miss so bad, brigadeiro, picanha,
coxinha de galinha (Chicken Croquette), farofa (Cassava Flour)... Maybe because I grew up there, and I am more used
to with these food.

Now that I have more experience in this field, my better
advice for you if you want to start to have a healthy diet is: start eating
foods that you like, especially if  they are healthy, will be more pleasurable and it will
last longer. That is why I love to make this Arugula salad recipe. All the ingredients
I use in this recipe I love all of them.  But better than all of these, all the ingredients
are very nutritious. 



SIMPLE, EASY AND DELICIOUS...

You will see
in the future, you will be able to create your own recipes. Choosing what you
like, what it is good for your health. When you are preparing your food, you can
understand and comprehend everything is needed to prepare it. It is really fun,
you have to enjoy. More than that when you can understand that the food can cure
all the diseases in your body, more than medicines, you’ll give more value to
this.

CHANGE THE WORLD AND BUILD AN AQUAPONICS SYSTEM

Food and Humanity...


In of my first posts I talked about how to choose and buy your food.  I think this is really important for your health, and your life. Why??? Because, without it you can’t work, be with your family or enjoy the world that you live.
Since I moved to Canada I started to appreciate more fresh and healthy food. Before in Brazil I didn’t care so much about it, because I used to live in a tropical country, and fresh food was cheap and easy to get it. But here in Canada, I believe because of the weather (maybe), fresh and healthy food is more expensive. Now I understand why they take many vitamins, and now I am taking them as well, of course. After I realized that, I started to think and search more about food in the world, I discovered that in the future it will be worse than today, even for Brazil. We are killing nature, there isn't enough food on earth for the world population, and more than that, what we already have today we are destroying and not putting back. There is huge problem with the water, some countries are buying water from others, and without it we can’t grow plants, nor feed the animals, we can’t live. We are fishing all the fish that we have, killing the animals and the forests. I don’t know what people are thinking about, if they don’t care about the future, so what do they care for??? A new car? The new Iphone? Parties and being drunk? Really, the values are reversed.

I don’t want to be part of this, I want a better world, and I will try to do something to change what’s happening, even if I can’t change, I will try it.

Finally someone told me about something that will change the way that I am living, something that can helps my life be easier and in the same time makes the world better. It calls AQUAPONICS. I don’t know if everybody knows what it is, but I will try to explain and teach a little bit for you guys.

For me today, in my opinion AQUAPONICS will revolutionize both agriculture and the farming, in all aspects. More than that it will incentive local producers, save water, save transportation, and it will grow the city economy. In my opinion, it is better to invest you money in local producer, and then you will help to developed more jobs, and your city economy.

DIY Infused Olive Oil





I was really excited about my last Christmas, because I would spend here in Canada with snow and my Canadian family. But I didn't have enough money to buy presents for everybody, and I was worried about that. Then I decided to make something by myself. I thought maybe I could  make some Christmas cookies, or a nice desserts, but I really wanted something special. The next weekend I went to the Christmas Market downtown Toronto, actually this place is amazing, the decoration, the restaurants, definitively this is one of the best programs to do with your family and friends during Christmas time. Anyways I was there and I saw a store selling spices and infused olive oil, it was a incredible. At that moment I realized that I could  make my own Infused Olive Oil.

I came back home that night and I decided to make my own, as I have a little garden in my condo, it was easier than I thought! I just chose the herbs that I had in my garden to make different flavors., but you can use the herbs that you like, lemon, peppers, flowers. It will depend on your taste and for what you want.

The best thing about an Infused Olive Oil is you can give more taste to your food. Instead of using a plain olive oil to season your salad, use a Lemon Infused Olive oil or Basil one. I changed butter for Rosemary Olive Oil in my toast, and it is full of flavor.

Quinoa one of the Healthiest Foods in the World







Happy New Year!!!! I hope 2016 will be a great year for all of you, with big changes and much prosperity!



We need to start the year with the right foot,  it means eating healthy, doing exercises, being more happy and always thinking positive. And for the first recipe of the year I prepared a good and healthy QUINOA. I realize that Quinoa remains unfamiliar to many people, especially in the practical sense of cooking and recipes. But I hope that situation will change, given the remarkable nature of this easily-prepared, nutrient-rich food.Quinoa has now been singled out by the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) as a food with "high nutritive value," impressive biodiversity, and an important role to play in the achievement of food security worldwide. 








Nice to know:


  • Researchers have recently taken a close look at certain antioxidant phytonutrients in quinoa, and two flavonoid—quercetin and kaempferol—are now known to be provided by quinoa in especially concentrated amounts. In fact, the concentration of these two flavonoids in quinoa can sometimes be greater than their concentration in high-flavonoid berries like cranberry or lingonberry.
  • Recent studies are providing us with a greatly expanded list of anti-inflammatory phytonutrients in quinoa. This unique combination of anti-inflammatory compounds in quinoa may be the key to understanding preliminary animal studies that show decreased risk of inflammation-related problems (including obesity) when animals are fed quinoa on a daily basis. The list of anti-inflammatory phytonutrients in quinoa is now known to include: polysaccharides like arabinans and rhamnogalacturonans; hydroxycinnamic and hydroxybenzoic acids; flavonoids like quercetin and kaempferol; and saponins including molecules derived from oleanic acid, hederagenin and serjanic acid. Small amounts of the anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acid, alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), are also provided by quinoa.
  • In comparison to cereal grasses like wheat, quinoa is higher in fat content and can provide valuable amounts of heart-healthy fats like monounsaturated fat (in the form of oleic acid). Quinoa can also provide small amounts of the omega-3 fatty acid, alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). Given this higher fat content, researchers initially assumed that quinoa would be more susceptible to oxidation and resulting nutrient damage. However, recent studies have shown that quinoa does not get oxidized as rapidly as might be expected given its higher fat content. This finding is great news from a nutritional standpoint. The processes of boiling, simmering, and steaming quinoa do not appear to significantly compromise the quality of quinoa's fatty acids, allowing us to enjoy its cooked texture and flavor while maintaining this nutrient benefit. Food scientists have speculated that it is the diverse array of antioxidants found in quinoa—including various members of the vitamin E family like alpha-, beta-, gamma- and delta-tocopherol as well as flavonoids like quercetin and kaempferol—that contribute to this oxidative protection.
